Twilight

Twilight Saga is a series of four vampire- themed fantasy romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different. Never one to run with the crowd, Bella never cared about fitting in with the trendy, plastic girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother remarried and Bella chooses to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks,  she didn’t expect much of anything to change. But things do change when she meets the mysterious Edward Cullen. He’s nothing like anyone she’s ever met. He’s intelligent and witty, and he seems to see straight into her soul. In no time at all, they are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance because Edward really isn’t like other boys. He can run faster than a mountain lion. He can stop a moving car with his bare hands and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. Edward and his family are unique among vampires in that lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for – a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. Somehow or other, they will have to manage their unmanageable love. But when unexpected visitors come to town and realize that there is a human among them Edward must fight to save Bella? A modern, visual, and visceral Romeo and Juliet story of the ultimate forbidden love affair between vampire and mortal.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize “Breaking Dawn, Part 2” is the best of the “Twilight” films.

One look and it’s clear someone massaged Stephenie Meyer’s book into a fairly entertaining thriller. There’s more money in special effects, less time spent on bad acting.

In the conclusion, Edward and Bella have to worry about the fate of their daughter Renesmee. Seen as a threat to a bunch of vampires led by Michael Sheen, she becomes a fast target and a reason for the “good” vampires to circle the wagons with their friends, the werewolves.

But if you’re not a die-hard “Twilight” fan you’ll have no clue who’s who or who does what. Just know, goth-like vampires are probably bad; hipsters in hoodies are good. Jacob, the also-ran in the Bella sweepstakes, stays in the “good” fold, helping his friends create a shield around their daughter. Everyone’s nice until the Vulturi show and then, well, then heads roll.

Fans of the series will love the curtain calls each of the actors gets. The big showdown gives a couple of them more action than they’ve seen in years and costumes and makeup that would probably work well in a runway show. All’s well that ends well? For this series, that’s certainly the case. Unlike “Harry Potter,” “Twilight” had nowhere to go but up. It started at such a cheap, low point, things had to get better.
